Hello everyone.
At the outset, my apologies. I have been very irregular here and I have no excuses. I had no ideas/motivation in October. Then to push myself to write more I’ve set myself some huge targets in writing for November and December and taken on some work that maybe I shouldn’t have given the time = money equation.
What am I upto? I am working on a first draft of my first novel thanks to NaNoWriMo. It is a fantasy/realism (confused) fiction attempt. I have a target of 50000 words by the end of this month, with my 7 days of travel where I won’t get to write, in short 50000 words in 24 days. This book plans to take the Maragoo story forward, so I inhabit the dark, slimy under-belly of Bombay, while I write in the blazing sun that relentlessly shines down on us here in Mumbai. I am also trying to write a children’s story on Bombay for a children’s publication house. That has been in the cards for sometime has suddenly has picked up momentum. I need to write 5 to 6 guides for a website for places around the world (should have finished it last month, but was wallowing, writing wise) and I need to finish a travel article for a reputed publication in India by the end of this week. So far, I seem to be doing none of this properly.
Hopefully by December things will clear up and you will see and hear much more of me. Thanks for hanging around and see you soon.
Some good news on the publication front. My fiction piece has been long-listed (top 33) for the DNA Out of Print Short Fiction Competition 2015. Rock Paper Scissors, 2/3rd down is mine. The top 15 will be shortlisted by mid-November. I am hoping against hope because I know the flaws in my story, and wishing the judges don’t think those are flaws.
